Godafoss, one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland

I always remember when I saw Godafoss first time, one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland!  And what’s more, I have always had the same wonderful feeling every time I see him. Feeling I get is what I’m lucky enough to see with the naked eye so see such spectacular waterfall. Enormous and beautiful with a great story!

The location of Godafoss waterfall

Godafoss come from the river Skjálfandafljót and is 12 meters high and with his beautiful width of 30 meters, it made a significant effect on all people which see it. Like a magnet which say to you, come a have a look and give you your time to do it. And that time are very well the worth of it! And the waterfall are so white! It is right to mention that Godafoss waterfall, foss in Icelandic means waterfall, is one of many of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland.

Extra bónus is that it is very easy to see it. The main ring road 1 are only few dozen meters from Godafoss,  with an easy walk from it.

For the many fans of The Games of Thrones series, it is interesting to know that Godafoss waterfall was filming for action in this very popular series which The Games of Thrones are!

It right to mention that Godafoss waterfall is very close driving from The Nature baths in Lake Myvatn which we talk about here. In the Christian history of Iceland said that Thorgeir Ljósvetningagodi, but he made Christianity the official religion of Iceland, threw hit statue of the Norse gods into the waterfall. From that, the waterfall gets the name.
